Do not handle any bats that you have found or allow children or pets to come into contact with it. If you do, the bat will have to be destroyed so that it can be tested for rabies.

There is no charge for animal care, but your donations will be used to house, medicate and feed the animals in our care.See menu- How you can help" for more information.

Volunteer Information

As a volunteer with Tri County Wildlife Care, there are several ways you can help.  Your time is what we need and any special skills you may have.  We need people to assist with the feeding and care of the animals.  Just four hours a week.  We also provide all of your training, so you will feel qualified to do your job.
You may become a wildlife rehabilitator at your home.  We need many foster care rehabilitators especially in the Spring.  We need people who can raise baby animals for us.  The length of this commitment for foster care is normally 2-7 weeks at a time.  Training is provided, at of course no cost to you.  It is best to keep children and other pets separate from the foster animals.
We are always looking for people to answer the TCWC phone.  As a volunteer you will assist callers in understanding the situation they have encountered and determining if and when a rescue is needed.  We also would have you check in new arrivals and keep records on those animals.  Again training is provided first.
You could make yourself available for on call emergencies and become a Transporter.  You would pick up animals and transfer them where needed or to the release site.  Being able to rescue animals and then releasing them back into their natural enviroment is a very rewarding experience.  Again Training is provided and equipment.
You may also assist with any new cage construction or maintenance.  This is a talent we are always looking for, due to the extreme need.
