Injured Animals
What you should do if you find an injured animal!
If you find a sick or injured animal, please contact TCWC as soon as possible. TCWC specializes in caring for wildlife. If at all possible call TCWC before attempting to capture or transport the animal. If you find an injured or sick animal, it is so important to contact the proper people, who will provide proper care and ultimately release the animal back into the wild. We do not charge for our services but gratefully accept donations to help with supplies, medical expenses and care faculity. You never know when you may have to help an injured animal. Perhaps it's a bird that has just flown into a window or become tangled in fishing line. You might even happen upon a deer or a raccoon that has just been struck by a car. Whatever the situation, you may want to lend a helping hand. However, you must first recognize that the animal will not understand that you are trying to help it and will instinctually react out of fear and pain. The best thing you can do is to eliminate stressors and alleviate shock. Even though it is tempting to take an animal and nurse it back to health, please remember that there are many federal and state laws and rules against keeping wildlife.
