Do not handle any bats that you have found or allow children or pets to come into contact with it. If you do, the bat will have to be destroyed so that it can be tested for rabies.

Featured Volunteer

Chris

Chris began working as a volunteer for TCWC at the baby bird nursery in the Spring of 2007.  Chris loves birds and a friend recommended that she volunteer.  She jumped right in, cleaning and feeding the baby birds and even brought her family so that they could learn about them also.  Chris gave at least 4 hours of her time every week and many weeks came for 2 or 3 to 4 hour shifts.  Chris was also able to take a couple of baskets of birds home to release them back out into the wild.  This is her "payday" for volunteering all of those hours, but as a bird lover, Chris can tell you that we still worry about our birds after they are released.

Casey

Casey found us on the internet and left a message that he was interested in volunterring on the TCWC recorder.  He has done everything from transporting a buzzard to U.C. Davis, raising mice for raptors and rehabilitating turtles, rabbits, squirrels and fawns also.  Casey jumped right in and provided countless hours of hard work and still always says, "Just let me know if there is anything I can do."

Rachel

Rachel will also tell you that she cannot care for animals, but she sure can sew.  She went to thrift stores and got flannel material and made numerous "pockets" for bedding for the countless baby mammals that come our way.

Patty

Patty began working with Tri County Wildlife Care at the end of "baby season' in 2007.  She will tell you that she cannot handle the stress and emotions of animal care but she loves to organize and clean and we sure needed her skills in the intake area.  Patty spent many hours organizing supplies, straightening and cleaning in preparation for 2007
